August 10, 2005
Gainesville final got run in August after two previous rain delays.
This race was one for the record books as only three drivers who
had originally qualified for the race were back for rescheduled
event. Four that did not make the original field were inserted in
the field, and Guy benefited as the best qualifier out of those
that returned (he was originally the #3 qualifier). He received
the bye run in round one. This was one of the few large fields in
Division 2 with 16 cars originally trying for the eight car field.
Final results are here.

Division 2 must be jinxed as another race had to be scheduled due
to the weather. South Georgia Motorsport Park in Valdosta Georgia
was supposed to be the place for the fourth Division 2 event of
the season, But this one hardly got started, as Friday had delays
throughout the day and When the event was called on Friday the Top
Alcohol classes, of which only four cars in either class were present
were only going to get one hit on Saturday noon before final elimination's
got underway later in the day. Well on Saturday, Rain interrupted
festivities all morning and the plug was finally pulled just after
1:00pm
From Division director Bill Holt, "Rain continues to fall
and Division 2 Director Bill Holt has postponed the remainder of
the fifth NHRA Division 2 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event to
August 5-6. Friday, August 5, will be qualifying and time trials.
Saturday will be elimination's.
"Those dates were previously announced for the twice-rained-out
elimination's from the third Division 2 Lucas Oil event, at Gainesville,
Florida. In order to minimize additional travel for Division 2 competitors,
those elimination's will be held at South Georgia Motorsports Park
on Sunday, August 7, instead".

in consecutive weeks has been postponed. Guy and the "Bama

event.
Hopefully!!!!

The Gatornationals...........our team's favorite race of the year.
This event is oneof the most anticipated
races on the NHRA tour for many teams, as Bob Frey said on DRC,
this is the "Big Go Easr"! This event has been ofn the
schedule since the late 60's and the fans flock to the fabled Gainesville
Raceway for the premier event in the South East. We have high expections
for Gainesville , and hope to be one of favorites this weekend.

The 'Boyz from Bama' have redemption on their
mind this weekend when they hit the track at Gainesville Florida.
After dominating the field at Bradenton three weeks ago, only to
lose with a red light in the final round to Artie Allen, Guy knows
he can't let chances like that fall by the wayside again. Guy had
this to say after Bradenton, "when you have the best car on
the property, you have to take advantage of your opportunity. It
is not very often in this sport that you can compete and say, "we
had the best car period"! But to walk away without the win,
that leaves a bad feeling in your gut. This class is so competitive,
that there are usually five or six cars at a divisional that can
come out with a win. The first race was not like that, we were on
our game and the rest of the cars for whatever reason struggled
a bit.
"The thing is I did not do anything differentand knew I had
a performance advantage in the final round (Where Guy inexplicably
red lit). I just let one get away".
This weekend at Gainesville, the team not
only wants to get back in the win column; they want to win the only
Division 2 event they did not win in 2004.
It will be a tougher test this weekend in Gainesville than three
weeks ago in Bradenton, as more hitters are expected to compete,
and the ones that struggled three weeks ago will have their act
together.
You can expect to see a number of cars run 5.30's and 5.40's this
weekend, It will be a good test and good tune-up for the National
here in two weeks. Every race is important, nationally or divisionally,
as you walk away 85 points for the win at either. Crew chief Ronnie
Swearingen and clutch Specialist Denny Savage are both very familiar
with the Gainesville facility, as Ronnie runs the Hawley Drag Racing
School there and Denny works for Hawley as well.

We are back in action next weekend at Gainesville,
Florida for the second Division 2 Lucas Oil Series event. After
the red light loss in the Race at Bradenton, we want to get back
in the winners circle. We are the defending champ at this event
and are very excited to be at the premier facility in the state
of Florida. Check back next Saturday night and Sunday for all the
results.

The season is upon
us, with the first race this weekend for our team. Bradenton Florida
will make history this weekend as it is is the start to the entire
NHRA season, a week before the Winternationals. The "Boys from
Bama" are excited to not only defend our win here last year,
but also to defend our first Divisional championship. We tested
three weeks ago at Bradenton and got the data we needed and are
looking forward to mixing it up against our buddies in the South
East.
The rest of the
site will be up and running in the next few days, so check back
often. The
marketing and team pages
up and active
NHRA Marketing
had this preview for this weekend's race (It is cool to be the favourite,
but it means we have the bullseye on our backs).
TAD competitors will try to unseat reigning
champion Guy Kelly who dominated the division last year, winning
five consecutive races. He started the season with a semifinal round
appearance at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla. Then kicked
it into high gear at Montgomery Motorsports Park in Alabama and
at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Ga., when he beat former
division champion Michael Gunderson in the final rounds. At the
next event, at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee, he beat Robinson, Ill.,
racer Marty Thacker. At Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, Ga.,
Kelly beat Arthur Allen and finished the season with another win
over Thacker in Gainesville.
TAD and TAFC scheduled
to make qualifying attempts 3 and 6 p.m. Elimination's begin Sunday
at 9 a.m. TAD and TAFC will run first round of elimination's at
1 p.m.
Check back often
to keep tabs on the team as we try to defend out Division 2 title
and move up in the National standings from our #9 spot from 2004.
